Description: The FL Irrigated Lands (2022) feature class represents spatial areas in Florida where projected residential population growth from 2022 to 2050 overlaps with irrigated agricultural lands modeled for 2022 water demand. It was created through the spatial intersection of point-based population projections and polygon-based irrigation demand data from the Florida Statewide Agricultural Irrigation Demand (FSAID11) model. The population projections were developed using a GIS-based buildout model that includes zoning, parcel geometry, development constraints, and proximity to infrastructure, normalized to county-level growth forecasts from the Bureau of Economic and Business Research (BEBR).The irrigation component reflects modeled water demand in 2022 based on crop type, evapotranspiration (ET), rainfall, and spatial land characteristics. The result is a spatial product that shows where dynamic population growth may intersect with static irrigation-dependent croplands, helping stakeholders plan for sustainable water use and land management.
